Day 2, Some Early Stage Companies Looking for Funding - 2
This compilation video is from the afternoon's group 3 presentations. These entrepreneurs know their companies and products.
This group proved to be exceptionally strong so we are going to include a video compilation of their presentation. That will be posted in an about an hour. Here is a quick text summary of their presentations: The session's presenters are Software Innovation, Zeligsoft, Softchaos, and Quazal Technologies. Reza Farhad, CEO & Founder - Softchaos of Montreal Their product, Webstractor (Radar), allows users to capture web pages as they browse: Gather-manage-use web information. The product is used in education and research. Webstractor won a MacWorld Eddie. They have already received favourable press and awards. How does it work? The Webstractor tool allow web users to save web pages they have collected. More than that, once saved, the pages become editable. The tool allows users to extract web data from existing pages and reuse it. it works in tandem with Microsoft Word. Softchaos anticipates $45 Million in sales by 2009. Markets include education, consumers, and institutions and they expect to sell three-million units. The unit cost of Webstractor is $99 CAD. The people at gagglescape - and many people in the media business - have always wanted a tool like this. Congratulations to Softchaos for this product. Coreworx Project Collaboration - Randal Howard - Former Software Innovation CEO. Coreworx is a project collaboration platform servicing the trillion - yes trillion - dollar megaproject industry. it is scalable, web-based enterprise solution. It now has 25,000 users. They sell to large projects only. There are 1200 companies in that market. Think Bechtel size here. The average sale is anywhere from $2 - 8 Million for a full enterprise rollout. They have generated about $5 Mil so far. The sell is to "C" level management. What does it do? Coreworx is focused on the overall, enterprise coordination of big project management. It collapses the "silos" between various parts of the megaproject market. In 2005 they raised $10.1 Million and are in the market for further funding for growth. Coreworx has the largest footprint in a growing market. Sean Neville - CEO of Simply Audiobooks Simply Audiobook's audience is those people who are driving and cannot take their eyes off the road. The market is $1 Billion. It is the second fastest growing market in the publishing sector. What are their product offerings? They offer an unlimited audio book rental service like Netflicks. They now have digital downloads and physical sales. When ordering the first step is to create a personalized bookshelf. You select titles and they are mailed. There are 15,000 members right now. 95% are in the US. They have teamed up with Microsoft to provide MP3 access online. Competitors are audible.com, MediaBay, and Recorded Books. They are looking for $3 - $5 Million in investment to accelerate growth. Their latest quarterly revenue in 2006 is 1.7 Million. Quazal Technologies Inc. - CEO is Sylvain Beaudry Quazal has 17 employees and is profitable. Their product is a mulitplayer SDK for PC and console game developers. What does it do? Quazal's technology allows online game developers to manage collaborative environments for their players while providing new revenue opportunities. New game platforms are rolling out - see xBox and Wii for example - that are more expensive to develop. Quazal's technology allows digital game publishers to create new revenue streams like advertising. Quazal builds the infrastructure technology to tap into the social-networks of gaming. They are negotiating with Google, AOL, and Yahoo to supply video interstitial for in-game advertising. Quazal is seeking $10 Million. Beaudry notes that there has been a lot of M&A activity in their market in the plus $200 Million range, so act fast if you are interested in investing.
