According to Reuters, Oz Communications of Montreal will announce on Wednesday a new product that will let users access social network sites with their cellphones.

Company CEO Skuli Morgensen said:
"Clearly the user experience will not be the same as on a desktop (computer)," Mogensen said in an interview. "But the mobile phone has other attributes that are so appealing we think it will fly."

The growing use of cellphones embedded with digital cameras will encourage its use as a device to share photos and video on the spot, he said.

OZ joins other Canadian companies like AirG and Ambient Vector in the mobile social-networking realm. The recent cash infusion of $34 million will no-doubt play an important part in the company's targeting of the social-networking space. Of course, Oz is a major plyer in the mobile space. The company's website boasts:
Leading companies that are Powered by OZ include: 3 Scandinavia, Alltel, AOL, Bell Mobility, Boost Mobile, Bouygues Telecom, Cingular, Dobson, KPN, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Pantech & Curitel, Samsung, Siemens, SonyEricsson, Sprint, TCL & Alcatel Mobile Phones, Telefonica Moviles Espana, Telus Mobility, T-Mobile USA, Virgin Mobile USA and Yahoo! . OZ is a privately held company headquartered in Montreal, Canada, with regional offices in the US, Europe and Asia.
