Monster.com founder Jeff Taylor has made the leap into a new market: Social Networking services for older adults. Taylor's http://www.eons.com brings Web 2.0 to a group that most marketers have studiously ignored yet represents the largest growing demographic in North America and, for example, Japan.

Why have marketers avoided making the plunge before? Many believe that older adults don't embrace the Net like their kids but we disagree. The Net is now so ubiquitous that even people well into retirement are increasingly frequent users. Who better than Canadians to carve a big chunk out of this growing market? We have a society that supports its older citizens who are probably in the top percentile of the world's citizens. Their interests and activities are the envy of perhaps billions.
